Project Overview
Westline was commissioned to perform a comprehensive 3D Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) survey and Scan-to-BIM modeling project for a 45-story commercial skyscraper undergoing major interior retrofit and MEP upgrading in Dubai.
Scope & Technical Methodology
- High-Density 3D Laser Scanning: Deployed millimetric laser scanners across all 45 commercial floors, plant rooms, rooftop installations, and underground service basements.
- Point Cloud Registration & Quality Control: Registered over 650 scan stations with zero survey drift, achieving an overall spatial accuracy tolerance under ±2mm.
- LOD 350 Scan-to-BIM Generation: Modeled all structural concrete, architectural envelopes, curtain wall brackets, and MEP ducts/pipes in Autodesk Revit.
- Clash Detection & As-Built Verification: Generated comprehensive deviation heatmaps comparing design drawings against verified as-built conditions to prevent retrofit clashes.
Key Deliverables
The client received fully coordinated Autodesk Revit (.RVT) LOD 350 models, point cloud datasets in RCP/RCS format, and 2D CAD as-built floor plans, enabling seamless HVAC and architectural renovations without site rework.
